Stream her with roses and daisies, dear mother,
let all that she speak be all that that she hears.
For no higher, no higher let her forehead doth grow;
and so dote, dote my mother, my mother so dear
and let her run free with a conscience so clear

Missy

Will anyone get me Missy Higgins' new CD?

I love Missy, but I sort of (evilly) threw her aside when glorious Jason came in. [^^ my Mr. A-Z]

But yeah. Now that she's back with her lurvely new CD, I am ready to do a double-take. Missy has always been closer to my heart - her lyrics have always been as such, and her brand of indie-acoustic matches that of my own liking. Jason's can get a bit odd at times, but I guess that's what makes him unique. You can never find another Mraz.

Well, everyone knows Missy for Scar-

Now doesn't it feel perculiar when everyone wants a little more?
And so that I do remember to never go that far,
Could you leave me with a scar?

But have you heard her other songs? Their lyrics are poetry -

And if you tell me yours I'll tell you mine,
and we will clean the cobwebs out of one another's mind...
-Don't Ever

I remember someone old once said to me
that lies will lock you up with truth the only key
I was comfortable and warm inside my shell
and couldn't see this place could soon become my hell
So is it better to tell and hurt, or lie to save their face?
oh, I guess the answer is don't do it in the first place.
I know I'm not deserving of your trust from you right now,
but if by chance you change your mind,
you know I will not let you down
'cause we were the special two, and will be again.
-The Special Two

I knelt before some strangers face,
I'd never have the courage or belief to trust this place,
But I dropped my head, 'cos it felt like lead,
And I'm sure I felt your fingers through my hair...
-The sound of white

And my favourite:

They Weren't There

You breathed infinity into my world
And time was lost up in a cloud and in a whirl.
We dug a hole in the cool grey earth and lay there for the night.
Then you said, "wait for me we'll fly the wind,
We'll grow old and you'll be stronger without him" but oh,
Now my world is at your feet. I was lost and I was found,
But I was alive and now I've drowned.
So now I will be waiting for the world to hear my song
So they can tell me I was wrong...

But they weren't there beneath your stare,
And they weren't stripped 'till they were bare of
Any bindings from the world outside that room.
And they weren't taken by the hand
And led through fields of naked land
Where any pre-conceived ideas were blown away...
So I couldn't say "no".

You sighed and I was lost in you, weeks could've past for all I knew.
You were there blanket of the over-world and so I couldn't say,
I wouldn't say "no". But they all said, "you're too young to even know,
Just don't let it grow and you'll be stronger without him"
But oh, now, my world is at your feet. I was lost and I was found,
But I was alive and now I've drowned.
So now I will be waiting for the world to hear my song
So they can tell me I was wrong...

But they weren't there beneath your stare,
And they weren't stripped 'till they were bare
Of any bindings from the world outside that room.
And they weren't taken by the hand and led through fields
Of naked land where any pre-conceived ideas were blown away...

But they weren't there beneath your stare,
And they weren't stripped 'till they were bare
Of any bindings from the world outside that room.
And they weren't taken by the hand and led through fields
Of naked land where any pre-conceived ideas were blown away...
So I couldn't say "no".

Fine, so somehow the ones I picked out are alot like love songs. But there are others too. These just happen to be one of my few favourites lyrics, and no, they don't strike me as couple-love songs.

Yeah, her voice isn't magnificent, and she is quite plain. But the element of intimacy that she possesses in her songs strikes the chord of beauty that most singers aren't able to. Oh, and her piano playing is beautiful. Its almost like its playing from her heart.

The new CD, named "On A Clear Night" sounds quite good. I went to her myspace and took a listen - and its not bad. The songs up there are quite nice - Where I stood, Steer, Wrong Girl, Peachy.

So please! Anyone?

Oh, and you should listen to her too.

What are you waiting for? Go NOW.

he told me that I've done alright
and kissed me till the morning light
