dear delilah

Fathers, be good to your daughters; daughters will love like you do.

you are the strength and the weight of her world

Stream her with roses and daisies, dear mother,
let all that she speak be all that that she hears.
For no higher, no higher let her forehead doth grow;
and so dote, dote my mother, my mother so dear
and let her run free with a conscience so clear

Advertisement of Love

All you maidens, golden-haired,
lie awake, with bedsheets bare,
empty frames without a care
do advertise your love.

They stay by sight, and not by faith
Mothers know too long it took
to learn this story, hook by crook,
they’re just fairytales of love.

But in our lives, and in our days,
when heartbeats fail to mend our ways
we sink once more to trends and craze
and advertise our love

We draw our lines in darkest ink
And never know the days that rise
And to our lov-er-ly surprise,
he advertised our love.

Over heels, he spent his ways,
and hooked you maidens by the heart,
“Never, never shall we part.”
He caught us by our love.

And trapped we stay, too blind to see.
Forget our lesson, unfairly thus
we let him crawl right over us
to advertise his love.

Whence we went amock again,
and fell to more direst shock,
crimson tears do stain our frocks,
they advertise our love?

What we have lost, we cannot gain,
the simplest, cruelest word is Pain
but evermore, the dagger Shame
now advertise our love.

I woke up this morning with an obsession with Christina Aguilera's Candy Man. Oh well.

He had lips like sugar cane, good things come for boys who wait.

he told me that I've done alright
and kissed me till the morning light
